Official American League (Harridge) ball signed by Tris Speaker across the sweet spot. This is an outstanding Tris Speaker single-signed ball, easily the finest example we have ever seen or offered. Speaker's signature has been boldly scripted in blue ink and grades "9/10." This ball was signed by Speaker sometime between the years 1946 (the earliest manufacturing date for this ball) and 1958 (the year of his death). Speaker passed away long before collecting Hall of Famers on single-signed baseballs became widely recognized as the ideal standard. For that reason high-grade Speaker single-signed balls are particularly rare. The offered example is certainly one of the finest Tris Speaker single-signed baseballs in existence. This is a gem that has been buried in a large and extremely advanced collection for many years. Because of the market's appreciation of single-signed balls, it is being sold. This ball would be a worthy and significant addition to even the most most advanced Hall of Fame single-signed baseball collection. The ball has been coated with an extremely light layer of protective shellac and is very slightly toned; otherwise it is in spectacular Near Mint condition. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$4,000. SOLD FOR $4,993.75
