Extremely rare signed T206 tobacco card of Sam Crawford. The signature of Hall of Fame outfielder Sam Crawford is not by itself considered extremely rare, nor is a T206 tobacco card of Crawford. But combine the two, however, and a singular rarity is created that has broad appeal among collectors in numerous fields. Offered here is exactly that, an exceedingly rare Sam Crawford signed T206 card. The card is the more desirable "with bat" pose (Polar Bear back) and has been signed "Wahoo Sam Crawford" in blue ink (grading "9/10") along the top. Signed T206 cards of any player are very rare, almost unheard of, let alone that of a Hall of Fame player. Collectors did not have much occasion to ask players to sign T206s cards, and when collectors started to get creative about what to have players sign, few players from the T206 era were alive to potentially accommodate such a request. We would be surprised if the signatures of more than a few dozen players are even known to exist on their T206 cards. The card is in Very Good condition, with a few minor creases, and has been encapsulated "Authentic" by SGC (in conjunction with James Spence Authentication.) LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $4,700.00
