Graded EX/NM 80 by SGC. Magnificent high-grade 1888 N28 Allen & Ginter of Mike "King" Kelly displays four square corners showing just a hint or wear, with perfect registry and flawless colors. The front is bright and perfectly clean. The reverse is also clean and crisp. Nineteenth-century cards are rarely found this sharp. The quality of the artwork, pose, and stature of Mike "King" Kelly has always made this card one of the great classics of the Allen & Ginter set and of all pre-1900 baseball cards. An exceptional high-grade example of one of the nineteenth-century's most popular Hall of Famers. The equivalent SMR value for the assigned grade is $1,750. Disclosure Notice: This card has been consigned to this auction from the personal collection of SGC principle David Forman. Mr. Forman purchased this card in the open market at public auction, already graded, just as is the case with all five SGC-graded cards Mr. Forman is selling from his personal collection in this auction. This disclosure is being made at his insistence (and with our blessing) to avoid even the potential appearance of impropriety. In addition to SGC's lifetime written guarantees, which apply to all SGC graded cards, REA will allow the winner of any or all of the cards from Mr. Forman's personal collection a six-month full return privilege for any reason if desired. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $1,880.00
