Atlanta Braves road jersey worn by slugger Bob Horner during the 1984 season. Graded A10 by MEARS. The blue knit jersey is lettered "Atlanta" across the front and features the number "5" on the left breast and reverse. "Horner" is lettered on the reverse above the number. All front letters and numerals are appliquéd in blue on white tackle twill. All reverse letters are appliquéd in blue tackle twill. A black memorial armband appears on the left sleeve in honor of Tommie Aaron, who passed away on August 16th of that year. A "Wilson 46" label is situated in the collar, directly below which is a tag reading "Tapered." The year, "84," is chain-stitched in blue upon the left front tail. Horner has signed the jersey in black marker (grading "9") on the reverse directly below the number. The jersey is completely original, with no alterations, and displays moderate wear. Graded A10 by MEARS. This is currently the only Bob Horner jersey listed in the MEARS population report. Horner was one of the top sluggers of his era and is one of only fifteen players in history to hit four home runs in one game. In 1984 he suffered a broken wrist and only appeared in thirty-two games, but he still managed to hit 3 home runs and drive in nineteen runs. He finished his ten-year career with 218 home runs. This jersey has been consigned to this auction directly from the personal collection/inventory of world-renowned bat and jersey authenticators David Bushing and/or Troy Kinunen. LOAs from Dave Bushing & Troy Kinunen/MEARS and James Spence/JSA. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$800. SOLD FOR $705.00
