Milwaukee Brewers road jersey worn by Hall of Fame shortstop Robin Yount during his 1982 MVP Season. Graded a perfect A10 by MEARS. This the highest-graded Robin Yount jersey listed in the MEARS population report and just one of only six Yount jerseys ever evaluated by the company. The blue knit jersey is lettered "Milwaukee" across the front and features the number "19" on the left breast and reverse. All letters and numerals are appliqued in blue on gold tackle twill. The year, Yount's name, and the size of the jersey ("82 Yount 40") are printed in black upon a white strip tag located on the interior rear tail. Situated on the left front tail are a "Sand-Knit 40" label and a Sand-Knit exclusivity label that reads "Designed & Tailored Exclusively for the Milwaukee Brewers American League." Yount has signed the jersey in black marker (grading "9") on the upper left breast. The jersey is completely original, with no alterations, and displays moderate wear including a few scattered light stains on the front. Yount enjoyed his greatest all-around season in 1982, achieving career-high totals in batting average (.331), home runs (29), RBI (114), hits (210), runs (129), triples (12), and slugging percentage (.578). Those impressive numbers earned Yount the first of his two MVP Awards at season's end. Yount also helped lead the Brewers to their first pennant in franchise history and was the hitting star for the club during the World Series, batting .414 with 1 home run and 6 RBI in seven games against the Cardinals. Yount is one of only twenty-seven players to amass 3,000 or more hits in his career, and he retired in 1993 with a .285 lifetime average. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1999. Graded A10 by MEARS. This is undoubtedly one of the finest Robin Yount jerseys in the hobby, especially given the fact that it dates from his 1982 MVP season. This jersey has been consigned to this auction directly from the personal collection/inventory of world-renowned bat and jersey authenticators David Bushing and/or Troy Kinunen. LOAs from Dave Bushing & Troy Kinunen/MEARS and James Spence/JSA. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$4,000. SOLD FOR $9,400.00
