Atlanta Braves road jersey worn by shortstop Sonny Jackson in 1969. Graded a perfect A10 by MEARS. The gray flannel jersey is lettered "Braves" across the front and features the number "16" on the reverse. All letters and numerals are appliquéd in navy on red tackle twill. An Atlanta Braves "Screaming Indian" patch appears on the left sleeve, and a Major League Baseball "100th Anniversary" patch appears on the right sleeve. The uniform number, size, and year ("16 40 69") are chain-stitched in blue upon a gray strip tag in the collar. Located on the left front tail are a "Spalding" label, a "44" size tag, a laundry tag, and an adjacent strip tag reading "Set 1 1969." Jackson has signed the jersey in black marker (grading "9") on the left breast. The jersey is completely original, with no alterations, and displays light wear throughout. Injuries limited Jackson to just ninety-eight games with the Braves in 1969. Still, he batted .239 with 1 home run and 27 RBI to help lead the Braves to their first division title in franchise history (1969 was the first year of League divisions). Graded A10 by MEARS. This is currently the only Sonny Jackson jersey and one of two 1969 Atlanta Braves jerseys listed in the MEARS population report. This jersey has been consigned to this auction directly from the personal collection/inventory of world-renowned bat and jersey authenticators David Bushing and/or Troy Kinunen. LOAs from Dave Bushing & Troy Kinunen/MEARS and James Spence/JSA. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $940.00
