This original four-panel Peanuts daily strip, produced in 1975, is dated "9/23" and has been signed by Charles Schulz along the left border of the final panel. The strip finds Charlie Brown applying his entrepreneurial skills in the field of landscaping. Unfortunately, this venture, like all of his others, seems doomed right from the start. Original Peanuts dailies have always been highly prized by a wide spectrum of collectors today due to the strip's incredible popularity. A true testimony to its universal appeal is the fact that even after Schulz's death in 2000, Peanuts continues to run (in the form of reprints) in thousands of newspapers nationwide. Although Peanuts ran for over fifty-years, the demand for original daily and Sunday strips still far outweighs the supply and they are not often seen on the open market today. Original Peanuts strips are appreciated and actively sought by art collectors worldwide. They are universally recognized as among the few blue chip original art pieces in the entire world of comic art, and the value of originals has appreciated considerably over the past decade. This is a magnificent example in all respects. The strip (27.75 x 7 inches) is in Mint condition and has been matted and framed to total dimensions of 33 x 12 inches. Reserve $2,000. Estimate $4,000+. SOLD FOR $11,750.00
