Image Area: 10.5 x 7.5 inches. Publication History: Premilinary sketch for a cartoon that was originally published in the August 15, 1936 issue of The New Yorker . A copy of the published cartoon has been matted below the sketch. Condition: Sheet is browned and features notations made by the art director. A formal appraisal in writing by Frederic Taraba (necessary for the settling of the estate) accompanies and lists an appraised value for this work of $3,500.
