The gray-knit jersey is lettered "Angels" across the front and features the number "29" on both the left breast and reverse. "Carew" is lettered on the reverse above the number. All letters and numerals are appliquéd in red on navy tackle twill. A California Angles team patch appears on the left sleeve, while an Angels "25th Anniversary" patch adorns the right sleeve. A "W. A. Goodman & Sons 42" label is located on the left front tail. The jersey is completely original, with no alterations, and displays moderate wear throughout. This jersey once resided in the famed Barry Halper Collection and is accompanied by an LOA from Barry Halper, dated 5/9/91, attesting to its provenance. A member of baseball"™s elite 3,000 Hit Club, Carew was one of the greatest hitters in baseball history. In 1977 he flirted with the magical .400 mark for much of the season before finishing with a league-leading and career-high average of .388. 1985 marked Carew"™s final season in baseball. Even at the age of forty he managed to appear in 127 games, finishing the season with a .280 average. He retired with a career .328 average and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1991. Graded A10 by MEARS. This is one of only six Rod Carew jerseys in the MEARS census and one of only three grading A10. LOA from Dave Bushing & Troy Kinunen/MEARS.
