Original watercolor-on-board painting of Casey Stengel created by Dick Perez for the Perez-Steele Hall of Fame postcard set. Signed by the artist in the lower left corner. This artwork is from the fourth series of Perez-Steele Hall of Fame postcards published in 1981. The Hall of Fame postcard set was the first Perez-Steele art card set ever produced. This is the famous landmark "signature" Perez-Steele set, issued in conjunction with The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown. The design and style of the cards was inspired by the Allen & Ginter set of 1887. Publishing of the set began in 1980 and was then updated every few years, through 2001, to add new inductees. This original painting hung in Barry Halper"™s living room for twenty-five years (alongside the four other Dick Perez Hall of Fame postcard artworks of Yankee legends offered in this auction). The artwork measures 11.5 x 15.5 inches and has been matted and framed to total dimensions of 19 x 23.5 inches. From the Barry Halper Collection. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000.
