Personal check, dated July 29, 1954, signed by famed animation pioneer Walt Disney. The check, made out to "Walt Disney-Special Acct." in the amount of $825 has been beautifully signed "Walter E. Disney" in blue fountain pen along the base. Disney's signature, scripted in his flourishing, artistic style measures over four inches in length and grades "9/10." Despite his celebrity status, authentic Walt Disney signatures remain quite scarce, as many of the examples found today are secretarial. For that reason, Walt Disney signed checks, due to their inherent authenticity, are especially prized by collectors. This is a particularly interesting check in terms of its date in that construction for Disneyland began on July 21, 1954, just seven days before this check was written. This is a magnificent example and one that would be ideal for inclusion in a framed display. The check (8.25 x 3 inches) bears Disney's name printed along the top and displays normal bank cancellation stamps and holes (none of which touch upon the signature). Excellent to Mint condition.
