Rare 1890s tobacco store display poster advertising for Allen & Ginter's "Richmond Straight Cut Cigarettes" featuring the famous Allen & Ginter "logo man." This is an outstanding chromolithographic poster of the highest production quality of the era. The production values of this poster are the same as that of tobacco banners of the 1880s and 1890s which advertised for specific card sets, many of which were also produced by Allen & Ginter. This is a very bright and extremely colorful early advertising poster, of special interest to card collectors as Allen & Ginter was one of the most popular issuers of cards in the nineteenth century. A couple of very small edge tears and some chipping in the lower left are minute flaws of no consequence to the poster's spectacular overall Excellent appearance. With vivid, bright, and flawless colors, this is a tremendous nineteenth-century advertising piece of a quality rarely seen from any era, even during the 1890s, the Golden Era of American lithography. Very lightly mounted to an acid-free board, to museum standards for ideal preservation and framing. Dimensions: 19.5 x 28 inches. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $1,276.00
