1916 World Series program issued at Boston. Led by their star pitcher, George Herman "Babe" Ruth, the defending World Champion Boston Red Sox were on a roll in 1916, returning to the "Fall Classic" and defeating Wilbert Robinson's Brooklyn Dodgers for their second consecutive World Championship. Though similar in design to the 1915 Boston World Series program, Boston's 1916 edition is far rarer. Ruth is featured in two Red Sox team photos, one in the interior pages and one on the back cover. The program is neatly scored in pencil for Game 2, with Ruth duly noted as the starting pitcher. The program has a vertical center folding crease, and one staple is slightly misplaced (should be on the spine but is one-quarter inch on cover, but appears to be the original staple). Overall in Very Good condition. Reserve $400. Estimate $800/$1,200. SOLD FOR $3,190.00
