Original painting by Dick Perez, unpublished "outtake" from the Perez-Steele Hall of Fame postcard set. This painting featuring Miller Huggins as a player in a St. Louis Cardinals uniform was originally created for his Hall of Fame postcard but was not used. After it was completed a decision was made to feature Huggins as Yankees manager, and a policy was established to always depict each player in the postcard set in the same uniform in which the player appears on his Hall of Fame plaque. A second version was created which featured Huggins in a Yankees uniform. Watercolor on board. 13 x 18 inches. Signed lower left. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $1,392.00
