Pristine multicolor circa 1950 Brooklyn Dodgers felt pennant reads, "Brooklyn/Dodgers/National League Champions" in white on a vivid blue background. To the left is a likeness of the Dodgers "lovable Bum" mascot, complete with bright pink clown nose and baseball topped crown. The pennant dates from the Dodgers glory years of 1952 to 1956, during which they won 4 National League titles in 5 years. Of course, those teams would lose three of four World Series contests to the mightier New York Yankees, prompting the cry "Wait Till Next Year" from the Brooklyn faithful. Unfortunately there would be no "next year" following the 1957 season, as the Dodgers moved to Los Angeles for good. Length: 19.5 inches. Framed to a total dimension of 38.5 x 16.5 inches. A beautifully preserved and classic pennant from the last great era of the Brooklyn Dodgers. Near Mint condition. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$600. SOLD FOR $1,035.00
