PJ Kinsella — October 21 2024
Chester, NJ - October 21, 2024 - REA’s October Encore Auction closed Sunday night with two of the hobby’s iconic cards and players leading the way. A 1984-1985 Star Company Basketball #101 Michael Jordan Rookie PSA NM+ 7.5 and a 1952 Topps #311 Mickey Mantle PSA VG+ 3.5 each sold for $93,000, with the sale of the Star Company Jordan rookie setting a new record for the card in that grade. The classic 1952 Topps set was well-represented among the event’s top results, with a 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle PSA POOR 1 selling for $32,400 and a signed 1952 Topps #261 Willie Mays PSA POOR 1 with a GEM MINT 10 signature selling for $30,000.
In addition to several vintage baseball classics, one of the auction’s other top results was a 2017 Topps Stadium Club Autographs #AJE Aaron Judge Rookie Gold Rainbow #1/1 PSA NM-MT 8 that sold for $9,000. The result comes on the heels of Judge and the Yankees making the team’s first World Series appearance since 2009 and the Yankee superstar’s first of his career.
