Fleer issued four football sets during the early 1960s in an effort to compete with Topps' established efforts in the sport. The 1963 set consists of eighty-nine cards featuring AFL players and is highlighted by Hall of Fame rookie cards of Nick Buoniconti, Len Dawson, and Lance Alworth. The Fleer sets are far rarer than their Topps counterparts from the same era. Condition is 23% Ex-Mt to Nr/Mt (including a couple Nr/Mt-Mt), 60% Vg-Ex to Ex, and 17% Gd to Vg (including a few lesser due to small pencil marks on the reverse). Five cards have been professionally graded and encapsulated by PSA.
