Graded VG 3 by BVG. Mid-grade rookie card of Boston Braves Hall of Famer Eddie Mathews. In addition to being Mathew's rookie card, this is also one of only a few key Hall of Famers in the rare high-number series, and as the last card in the set, is also a condition rarity. Just as card #1 Pafko was subject to wear due to gravitating to the top of the pile, #407 Mathews was also subject to excessive wear at the bottom of the pile. In anything even resembling high grade, this has always been a very difficult card to find when putting together a quality 1952 Topps set. This well-centered card (much better than normally seen as this card is frequently encountered with severe centering issues) has beautiful colors, outstanding registration, and honest corner wear. Light creasing below the top-right corner and four surface indentations along the bottom edge of the reverse (when being viewed horizontally as intended) contribute to the assigned grade). A solid example that would be at home in any mid-grade 1952 Topps set or classic-card collection.
